On the eve of the 2017 Inauguration, with the country at about the most polarized state it’s been in in a generation, I was curious to hear what people’s perceptions of America was...certainly, I assumed, they would be as diverse as the population. To begin with, just asking people what America is to them, elicited questions about what I meant by ‘America’.  I left it as wide open as I could.  And despite the polarization, the strife, the protest in the air, or maybe because of it, I was inspired by the differences of opinion.  Ain’t that America?
